Overview: The Season of Divine Appointments
When God Orchestrates Supernatural Encounters
Between the ages of 19 and 33, I experienced a series of supernatural encounters that were marked by precise timing, prophetic confirmation, and divine orchestration. These were not isolated incidents, but part of a larger pattern—what I now call Divine Appointments.
Each encounter involved strangers who spoke prophetic words over my life, often with no prior knowledge of who I was. The details were specific, the timing was intentional, and the impact was undeniable.
This three-year season laid the groundwork for everything that followed—teaching me to recognize God's voice, to trust His timing, and to expect the supernatural in everyday life.
First Encounter: The Man at the Gas Station
A Stranger Speaks God's Plan
The Encounter
I was filling up my car at a gas station when an older man approached me. He was a complete stranger—I had never seen him before, and I would never see him again.
Without introduction or small talk, he looked directly at me and said:
"God wants you to know that He sees you. He has a specific plan for your life, and it's bigger than you think. Don't be afraid of what's coming. He's preparing you for something."
I was stunned. I didn't respond—I couldn't. Before I could process what had just happened, he smiled gently, nodded, and walked away.
I never saw him again.
Immediate Impact
At 19, I had no framework for understanding what had just happened. I wasn't actively seeking God at the time. I wasn't praying for a prophetic word. I was just filling up my car.
But the encounter left a mark. The specificity of the words, the authority in his tone, and the timing of the encounter—it was clear that this was not random.
This was my first Divine Appointment—a moment where God orchestrated a supernatural encounter to speak directly into my life.
Second Encounter: The Woman at the Coffee Shop
Fourteen Years Later, God Speaks Again
The Encounter
Fourteen years after the gas station encounter, I was sitting alone in a coffee shop, working on my laptop. A woman I had never met approached my table.
She said:
"I don't usually do this, but I feel like God wants me to tell you something. He's about to open doors for you that you didn't expect. You've been waiting for something, and it's coming soon. Don't give up."
I was shocked—again. The words were specific, the timing was uncanny, and the delivery was gentle but authoritative.
She smiled, said "God bless you," and left the coffee shop. I never saw her again.
Immediate Impact
At 33, I had a better framework for understanding prophetic encounters. I had studied Scripture, learned about spiritual gifts, and experienced God's presence in deeper ways.
But this encounter still took me by surprise. The fact that it happened 14 years after the first one—and in a similar manner—confirmed that this was part of a pattern.
God was marking specific moments in my life with prophetic confirmation. These were not coincidences—they were Divine Appointments.
Third Encounter: The Stranger at the Park
From Hidden Faithfulness to Public Calling
The Encounter
A few months after the coffee shop encounter, I was walking through a park when a man approached me. He was a stranger—I had never seen him before.
He said:
"God told me to tell you that He's proud of you. You've been faithful in the hidden things, and now He's about to bring you into the open. Don't be afraid of visibility. He's with you."
Once again, I was stunned. The words were specific, timely, and deeply personal. They addressed exactly what I was wrestling with at the time.
The man smiled, said a quick prayer over me, and walked away. I never saw him again.
Immediate Impact
This third encounter confirmed the pattern: God was marking specific seasons of my life with prophetic words delivered by strangers.
The words were always encouraging, always timely, and always aligned with what God was doing in my life behind the scenes.
This was not random. This was Divine Appointment—God orchestrating supernatural encounters to confirm His plans, strengthen my faith, and prepare me for what was coming.
Prophetic Reflection: The Pattern of Divine Appointments
Recognizing God's Orchestration
Divine Appointments are not a new concept. Throughout Scripture, we see God orchestrating supernatural encounters to speak into people's lives at critical moments.
Precise Timing
The encounter happens at exactly the right moment—often when you're wrestling with a specific question or need confirmation.
Unexpected Source
The person delivering the message is often a stranger—someone you've never met and may never see again.
Specific Content
The words are not generic—they address specific situations, emotions, or decisions you're facing.
Supernatural Confirmation
The encounter leaves you with a deep sense that God was behind it—there's a peace and knowing that transcends human explanation.
Spiritual Application: How to Recognize Divine Appointments
Five Keys to Staying Alert
1. Stay Alert
Divine Appointments often happen in ordinary places—gas stations, coffee shops, parks. Don't assume God only speaks in "spiritual" settings.
2. Test the Words
Not every stranger with a message is delivering a Divine Appointment. Test the words against Scripture, pray for discernment, and seek counsel.
3. Record the Encounter
Write down what was said, when it happened, and how you felt. Over time, you'll see patterns that strengthen your faith.
4. Expect the Supernatural
If you believe God still speaks today, you'll be more attuned to His voice when it comes. Faith creates space for the supernatural.
5. Be Obedient
If God gives you a word through a Divine Appointment, act on it. Obedience opens the door for more revelation.
Activation Exercise
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you if there have been any Divine Appointments in your own life—moments where a stranger or friend spoke a word that was clearly from God.
Write down the encounter. What was said? When did it happen? How did it impact you?
If you haven't experienced a Divine Appointment yet, pray and ask God to make you more aware of His voice—whether through dreams, words of knowledge, or supernatural encounters.
